From Diabetes to Purpose: The Journey Behind NXsweets

In late November of 2024, I went in for what I believed would be a routine eye exam. I had been

diabetic for over 25 years, so checkups had become a normal part of life. But this visit wasn’t

normal. The doctor looked at my scans and told me there were large amounts of fat lipids

building up behind my eye. He said it was diabetic retinopathy—damage caused by years of

uncontrolled diabetes.

I had heard stories from other diabetics about complications, but this time the story wasn’t about

someone else. It was about me. His words hit me like a wall:

“You could lose your vision.”

At that moment, everything around me collapsed. I felt cornered, scared, and overwhelmed.
